Hey.

I was wondering if you could translate a 15min Ken Ishikawa interview.
The interview also features the Getter team's voice actors.
Please let me know if you are interested, and I'll email you the video.

If you find it too hard, Or can't do it for some reason, I know a translator who'd take 140USD
to translate it.
I thought, if all of us who are interested, could donate small amount each to someone we can trust(like you) we could afford it.

here's a small part of it: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I'm not a translator unfortunately. I actually asked Hiei-, the other translator of the other fansub I'm in (I only do editing work and translate from french to english), but he couldn't translate it because apparently they spoke really fast in it.

140 USD for a 15 minutes translation is pretty high to be honest, so if he can bring the price down, then I'll donate for sure.

I had the same Issue when wanted to translate it, that's why I contacted a translator.
I'm not if he is willing to bring the price down however.
My question is: how down should I ask to bring it?

Well I'm not sure. There's a group (http://arr-soarin.blogspot.com/) which takes 15-20 USD (depending on each translator in the group) at their lowest to translate an anime episode, granted they don't translate right now and may take weeks for it to get it done.

But then, I don't know about the skill level involved to translate this particular interview.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to understand the language fluently in order to translate anything in that interview.
especially because they speak so fast, and the sound's not the greatest.

But if you can make that group translate it for 20USD, I'd be happy to pay the entire price.
It does not matter how long it takes, as long as we get a translation, that's fine.

Here's a brief translation of the first part:

’’Chougeki! Shin getter robo, Ryouma ga kiru

Hideo Ishikawa (Ryouma’s voice actor):
Hello everybody my name is Hideo Ishikawa. Once again, a new enemy has arrived. Now there’s only two episodes left, I wonder how it’s all going to end? With that said, I would like to present to you a special guest Ishikawa ken-sensei!

Ken Ishikawa: Thanks. I’m Ken Ishikawa.

Hideo: And just like last time, we’ll talk with the director Kawagoe, thanks for coming!

Jun Kawagoe: thanks for inviting me to come, I’m Jun Kawagoe.

Hideo: Did you watch Shin Getter robo this time?

Ishikawa: yes, I did.

Hideo: you’ve watched it? What do you think?

Ishikawa: It was really exciting. Not just exiting, it really had strength. I was surprised to see the powerful scenes.

Hideo: what does the director think?

Kawagoe: I’m very pleased to hear that from Ishikawa, it makes everything worth it.

Hideo: Me too. I’m glad to hear that Ishikawa liked the powerful scenes. Were they one of the things which you had extra focus on, when you wrote Getter Robo?

Ishikawa: Yes, It had to be convincing. As when the three machines combine into one, like I mentioned earlier; How do you show such an absurd thought, and make it convincing? What should the characters do? It must be the biggest challenge. When you watch anime it’s very convincing. In manga you have to show the Combination in frames, but in anime it can be shown so fluently, I think that’s very convincing.

Hideo: Is that something you’ve discussed with Kawagoe?

Kawagoe: well, we haven’t really discussed it like that. But when Ishikawa drew all kinds of designs, we all sat down, and talked about how it was going to work.

Hideo: How involved were Ishikawa in the plot? How many of the ideas were yours?

Ishikawa: They just asked me to make this’n’that character, and that’s all.

Hideo: oh, so everything else were Kawagoe’s?

Ishikawa: yes.

Kawagoe: at first, we wanted him to design the new Getter Robo, and we thought, he might as well design the new third pilos; Musashibou Benkei. And then the ‘’Kijuu’’, which arrives in the first episode.

Hideo: What do you think of musashibou benkei?

Ishikawa: They’ve simply taken Benkei, Musashi, and made a Musashibou benkei.

Hideo: Yeah, pretty much. Do you also think that if you put Musashi and benkei together you’ll get a Musashibou benkei?

Ishikawa: I suppose.

Hideo: He’s also become a pretty memorial character, which I think Yanada(Musashibou’s voice actor) does a great job with. Have you used some of the ideas from Ishikawa’s other Manga?

Kawagoe: Yes, I’ve always wanted to make an animation for the historical inspired works of Ishikawa, like ‘’Juubei shisu’’ I wanted to show the wooden air battleships in animation.

Hideo: Have Ishikawa watched that?

Ishikawa: yes.

Hideo: I was very surprised to see flying battleships in the Heian-period, it’s unbelievable. Really awesome.

I used my own money, and paid a translator to translate the first part only, the entire interview would've hurt my wallet! how sad..

This is too cool. I'd like to feature this translation along with the video on my blog if that's all right with you. I'll direct anyone reading here and try to see if I can drum up some donations.

Wow thanks, I'm glad you liked it, and I just called the translator, he wanted 100USD for the rest of the interview, which I honestly think is too much. so perhaps you guys know somebody cheap?

No sorry. There's ARR but I think they only deal in anime.

EDIT: I considered paying, but now I am seeing a plethora of English mistakes in that interview. It's not worth it, especially for that price.
