North American publisher Digital Manga reached its "stretch goal" of raising US$26,000 in pledges for an English-language printing of Osamu Tezuka's Atomcat manga on Friday. Atomcat, originally published in 1986-1987, is a family reboot of Astro Boy about a little boy who has a cat with Astro Boy's powers.

Digital Manga has also added a new stretch goal to publish Tezuka's Triton of the Sea adventure manga (pictured at right). Digital Manga will release the series in two volumes in June 2013 and August 2013 for US$19.95 per volume if it reaches the new goal of US$47,000. Digital Manga describes Triton of the Sea, which was originally published in 1969-1971, as follows:

It's the story of Triton, a boy living in modern Japan who discovers he is the last survivor of the destruction of Atlantis by the god Poseidon. With his dolphin comrades by his side once again, he goes on a quest to avenge his family and, more importantly, begin to understand where he came from.

Digital Manga originally started accepting pledges on the Kickstarter website on June 21 for a goal of US$20,500 to publish Tezuka's Unico manga, and once it reached that goal on June 26, it added Atomcat as a stretch goal.

Digital Manga will release the Unico manga in a single, full-color volume, and it will release Atomcat in a single paperback volume.

Digital Manga previously funded a release of Tezuka's Barbara manga through Kickstarter in January. It also used Kickstarter to reprint Tezuka's Swallowing the Earth manga last year.

So that's Swallowing the Earth last year, Barbara in January, they got Unico the other day and Atomcat today and now working on Triton of the Sea. These guys are on a role o.O.
